Finishing off this week of bundles of Nike footwear here in Classics Revisited tied together by a distinct theme is the trio of Air Max releases from 2006 called the Kashima Antlers Pack. This unique set was a tribute to the Kashima Antlers professional football club in adidas zx flux Japan the most successful club in the history of the Japan League Division 1 since its inception in 1993, but the origin of the Antlers club dates back to 1947. The Nike Kashima Antlers Pack featured three significant models; the Air Max 95 and the Air Max 97, both of which are widely popular in Japan, and the Air Max 360, which debuted in late January of 2006. Of the three adidas superstar metal toe colorways, only the Air Max 360 is designed with the Kashima Antlers kit colors in mind (White, Black, and Red), but all three compositions capture a singular theme that were widely popular when the Kashima Antlers Pack was launched globally in late February.
We loved Nike s last go around with Hurley in the form of the Nike Air Max 90 Phantom 4D , but it s nice to see that this time around they selected a bit more of a contemporary model to reflect the action sports nature of their partner here. That model is the Nike Free Run 3+, with this specific pair being helped out by the likes of contemporary artist Dalek, a man whose had his hands in no shortage of classic Nike releases. The pair come with the NRG designation meaning they ll be on the limited side, but adidas superstar slip on some number will be up for grabs on Nikestore so all is not lost if tehy re not coming to the shop near you.
This weekend is bound to be another busy one as far as Nike releases, with one particular retro gem tucked in there that hasn t seen the light of day since its original release. That sneaker is the Nike Air Max Pillar, a retro model that has its work cut out with it in a year featuring other awesome comebacks of the same ilk like the Nike Air Speed Turf Max. The Pillar will be making its way out of the gate in the neon-styled colorway pictured here, arriving at Nike Sportswear accounts tomorrow, July 14th. Remember when Kanye West started to pop up in the Nike Air Flight 89 earlier this year and everyone was certain that the model would suddenly be clamored over like never before? Well this upcoming colorway might be the first to really test that theory, marking the first time in a minute that the silhouette has arrived with any sort of theme attached. That theme comes as a somewhat tenuous connection to the World Baksetball Festival pack, with the Flight pictured sporting quite the similar colorway and the exact same release date as the aforementioned set.
